The South African based production company, Village Gossip Productions, which was founded by multi-award winning creative-producer, playwright, director, poet, and performer, Napo Masheane, will be hosting the inaugural HerStory International Theatre Festival from 1st - 7th August, 2022, alongside other prominent partners. The festival which will be taking place over the course of 7 days, it will be a colourful and layered artistic program of theatre works and performances by Womxn - for Womxn - with Womxn creatives. Covering various issues and/or topics relating to artistic presentations, arts and culture, masterclasses as well as the role of theatre within the landscape of the 21st century. Thus, The HerStory International Theatre Festival will be a platform for Womxn practitioners (and/or those who identify as a woman plus LGBTQIA+) from the African continent, diaspora and world; who will be gathering at the Soweto Theatre, to create a sustainable theatre experience for the theatre industry through arts, culture and tourism. The selected delegates, who are of a high calibre will consist of; festival curators, creative producers, artistic directors, playwrights, spoken word artists, dancers, comedians, performing arts practitioners, academics and artistic managers, who are prominent figures within their own cities, states, provinces and countries. More so, this festival will position itself as a pallet of new networks, that will exist amongst various Womxn creatives in theatre as well as performing artists across the world, this will also grant them the opportunity to gravitate themselves through tourism culture. Hence as a company we want to make sure that we weave our artistic programmes with outstanding business brands and theatre houses that embraces and celebrates Womxn and under-represented minorities.
